Faith is the cornerstone of the Christian life and the Bible says, “without faith it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6). But today, many believers act as if faith is the demonstration of their ‘self-confidence’ while true faith is confidence in God or Christ. My brother, my sister, it is hearing the Word of God that produces faith in you, not listening to a man. And the truth faith based on the Lord will produce that ‘I CAN’ spirit that Apostle Paul is talking about when he says “I can do all things through Christ that strengthened me” (Philippians 4:13). Yes, prayer is good and it is surely the key to the kingdom but you must have faith in God in order for that prayer to unlock door: “And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven” (James 5:15). Now, all of us have different kind of needs and we pray to God. And all of us can develop a strong faith in God if we follow the four steps suggested in this passage:
– WE MUST FOLLOW THE LORD like the two blind men, because following Christ can only cause a change in our lives (verse 27).
– WE MUST PRAY, because prayer relieves us and brings us peace and allows us to solve problems. Look at the two blind men who asked Jesus to have mercy on them, and Jesus did in healing them (verse 27).
– WE MUST HEAR WHAT THE LORD is telling us. These people prayed for Jesus’s mercy, and they heard Jesus talking to them, asking them ‘Do you believe that I am able to do this?” (verse 28).
– WE MUST ANSWER THE LORD… because Answering Him activates Him to answer us. Remember that Peter’s answer to Jesus made Jesus to establish Peter’s ministry (Matthew 16:13-19). The same, the two blind men said “yes” they believed in what Jesus could do… and Jesus did do something for them.
My friends, in this passage of the Word, we see two men in need of a special touch from the Lord, just like you and me today. What He is telling today is to exercise your faith to activate that miracle you have expected from Him by following Him, praying to Him, hearing then answering Him. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
