When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, there is a transfer of our citizenship from this world to the Kingdom of God. Many Christians know it. Yet, many continue to live like “fearful slaves” instead of embodying their new status and even enjoying the privileges of that status. My brother, my sister, because you are a child of God, you share in great treasures as co-heirs in Jesus Christ. It is terrible to hear about children of God complaining, being depressed, feeling lost or being complacent with things of the Kingdom! Just take a minute and think about how Jesus feels when He sees you in that state… May be it is because you do not think about Him first and the meaning of the cross for you that you will continue behaving like a fearful slave, because in Jesus, God has given you His best gifts: His Son, His Holy Spirit, forgiveness and eternal life. And above all, He has promised never to abandon you and to be with you until the end of times, when He does not encourage you to ask Him whatever you need. Through Jesus, you have been adopted in the Kingdom of God, so you have legitimate rights, privileges and responsibilities of a child of God’s family. If you don’t know about your rights and responsibilities, read and meditate the code of conduct the Lord has provided for you to know what to do, His Word… It all depends on you, my friend: you have to make the decision to adapt to your new culture… But also know that there is a price to be identified with Jesus, and this price is serving others, giving up your own rights, resisting pressures to conform to the world… Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
