Many people fear other people more than they fear the Lord. In this passage, God’s people feared Babylon but not God. Indeed, they had many reasons to fear Babylon for the harm it wanted to do, but they should also have realised that God’s power is much greater than Babylon’s. My brother, my sister, who is the Babylon standing before you who wants to make you captive? Today, know that the Lord is interested in setting you free. However, if you have misplaced your fear and your love, you would better turn back to the Word that says: “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Yes, Babylon was overcome in your life by Jesus. So, set your eyes on Him and fear His power and love His mercy, for that will set you free!
Today’s verse says: “I am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mere mortals, human beings who are but grass, that you forget the Lord your Maker, who stretches out the heavens and who lays the foundations of the earth, that you live in constant terror every day because of the wrath of the oppressor, who is bent on destruction? For where is the wrath of the oppressor?”
My friend, you have been set free, and you are indeed free in Christ Jesus. Therefore, stop focusing on those things that scare you as if they have power over you. stop giving the enemy power to oppress you. Instead, acknowledge the Lord in all your ways and keep confessing the oppressor’s defeat and your victory in Christ who tells you not to live in terror every day because of the wrath of the oppressor, which brings you suffering and sorrow. Fear Jesus instead, for that brings you wisdom, peace, joy and His righteousness… Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
