When you make the choice and the decision to follow Jesus, you become a new creation. Therefore, as any new born baby coming on earth, you have to start living your new Christian life, learning to grow in your faith and in your knowledge of Jesus. My brother, my sister, being a Christian is a process, not an end. This process ends only when you leave this earth or when, Jesus, our Lord and Saviour returns. Therefore, for you to live your life as a new creation, you need o read the Bible daily and always ask God to give you understanding and wisdom: “Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your law” (Psalm 119:18); you need to communicate with God through prayers and learn to become dependent on the Holy Spirit, asking Him to help you to live a life that pleases the Lord. Also pray for others, that they too may choose to follow Jesus Christ. You need to attend church regularly, because a log that is by itself on the fireplace quickly dies out. My friend, Jesus taught us to serve the others, so do it: “If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will find true life” (Mark 8:35). Live one day at a time, not letting doubt overwhelm you and learn to flee (1 Timothy 6:11) or resist (James 4:7; I Peter 5:8-9) temptation. Always keep in mind that you were not saved because of how good of a person you are, but by putting your trust in what Christ has already done for you on the cross. And last but not least, share with others about your new life in Jesus, by word or by action: as the Bible says: “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have” (I Peter 3:15). Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
