Today, my brother and sister, let’s tackle a very sensitive issue that is plaguing our walk with the Lord, our families, our businesses, our churches: sexual sin! Today’s passage says “stay away from all sexual sin” (verse 3) and “control your body” (verse 4). You see, the Bible teaches us that holiness is not a way of being that we can create on our own will with hard work and good deeds or constant fear of failure to fall into sin. Being made holy is a process that is part of our Christian walk. Indeed, once you accept Christ and that the sacrifice of the cross was for you, then you are considered holy and complete in God’s eyes… Yet you must keep that holiness. To be able to do so, you need to learn how to remain holy from the Word. Know that when you don’t control your body, the Bible lines you up with “the pagans who do not know God and His ways” (verse 5). True enough that our societies have brought sexual standards at such a low level that even schools are teaching teenagers that it is normal to have sex before marriage (in the United Kingdom for example), not even to mention same sex relationships. But as Christ followers we should be the light of the world and through our examples continually show and shout out loud that God created sex for procreation, for pleasure and as an expression of love between a husband (I did not say a man) and wife (I did not say a woman)! In other words, the sexual experience must be limited to the marriage. And, my friend, never lie to yourself: any sexual intercourse outside the boundaries set by the Lord makes you an outlaw before God and has consequences: The Bible clearly states that: “For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification. So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you” (verses 7-8). My friend, this is a serious issue: and we are surprised that today our societies are full with children who come into this world with all kinds of behaviours, deformity, etc… things that are sometimes hard for us to understand or explain… And when such things happen, we are quick to question God’s love for us when we don’t blame Him because we tend to forget that the number of partners we have had before marriage could be the cause due to our own impurity! Let me give you an example: I heard a lady saying she became a heavy smocker after starting a relationship with a man who was not smocking himself, and now she was blaming the stress that came out of that relationship. Did her sex partner force her to start smocking weed while he himself did not smock simple cigarettes? No. So, that smocking could have come from a partner that her sex partner had had before… the spiritual realm has rules and when we break the laws of God physically, it is spiritual disorder we are causing for ourselves. My friend, whenever you have sex with someone who is not your lawful husband or wife before God, you are not only committing a sin but you are also mixing your blood with all the partners that person has had before you too… Let’s not even mention the ungodly spiritual baggage you earn as well!!! My friend! God cannot protect you when you are breaking His law, so no prayer, fasting or hand-laying can stop ungodly spiritual ties from transferring into your life through such relationships. Now, do you understand why God wants us to have only one partner for life? It is just for your own blood not to be defiled, the same as to protect your spiritual life by not giving Satan a whip to whip you. Let’s learn to live according to God’s standards. They are unchangeable… His will us for us to be holy! Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
