In these verse, which is actually a prayer of Jeremiah, we see how he approached God using three descriptive names: “Lord, my strength and my fortress, my refuge”. My brother, my sister, Jeremiah was in a time of distress, and each of the names he called God with gives a glimpse of how he experienced God’s presence, and each is a picture of security and protection. This recalls Jesus’ question to His disciples, which he is asking you this morning too: “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” (Matthew 16:15). The Bible says, Peter answered Jesus was the Messiah because that is how He experienced the Lord, and we know what Jesus told Peter right after that (read Matthew 16:16-18). You see, many believers pray the Lord but they don’t know who He is and base the way they view or call Him on hear-say! My friend, you need to pray in a way to experience the Lord’s presence, then you will be able to call Him individually, personally in a way that you see Him. Yes, He is waiting for you to approach Him, so let Him be your strength when you feel weak, your fortress when enemies come against you and your refuge when you need to retreat from life’s pressures. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
