There is something that most Christians tend to forget, especially when they find themselves in the midst of earthly turmoil: they are not of this world anymore as Christians. My brother, my sister, as followers of Christ, we are members of His Kingdom which is not of this world but in heaven (Philippians 3:20). True enough, we are living on earth now, but our earthly lives are nothing but vapour (James 4:14), that is the reason why we should always focus on our life after this life. It is also true that the things of the world (famine, poverty, sickness, wars, etc.) impact both Christians and non-Christians alike… it is because they are things of the world, brought about by the king of this world! Therefore, Christians should rather keep their eyes focused on things above, because they are controlled by the One who is above, whose name is above all names. My friend, when you truly acquire the knowledge that you are not of this world, you will always have that unshaken hope even in the darkest times that will lead you to praise, glorify and honour your Lord despite all odds (1 Peter 1:6-9). So, whatever you have been going through, just remember that you are not of this world and after a little while it will be over because “the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast” (1 Peter 5:10). Therefore, start looking at that situation with a new perspective: that of a foreigner, someone who is not of this world, and you will soon see your circumstances in a different light… the light of Christ, that brings hope and life. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [retweet] [facebook]
