So often, we ask God to bless us. When doing so, we always ignore that asking for God’s blessing is actually asking God to use us, for He says: “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing” (Genesis 12:2). My brother, my sister, this is at the start of the Word of God. Therefore we should not misunderstand His intention when we are asking for H…is blessings. Now, what is a vessel? It is an object designed for the sole purpose of holding or containing something. The vessel is not made already containing something, it is made empty. If a vessel contains something already it needs to be emptied in order to be used for something else. Therefore, if the vessel is contaminated by an internal issue it must be cleaned in order not to mix the residue of the prior content into the new content.
My friend, the Lord wants us to be vessels. The Bible says, we are a “chosen vessel” (Acts 9:15), to bear His name before the world. Yes, we are chosen vessels designed to be used and filled by God. God chooses us to be His vessels, yet He will never force us to be used. Our God loves us so much that He gave us a thing called choice. We can even choose whether or not to believe in Him… We can choose to allow Him to use us, that is to say, to bless us.
As already mentioned, a vessel is designed to contain something. As vessels of God, we are designed to contain God. We must fill ourselves with Him. We must read our Bibles and fill ourselves with the Word. We must have communion with God and learn to have His heart and His mind. It takes time, but this is the greatest blessing that you will ever have from Him while still on this earth.
Stay Blessed in Jesus name.
