What most people do not know is that the first consequence of sin is to harm relations. Yes, as soon as they sinned, the relationship between God and Adam and Eve was damaged: they were separated from God, they began to hide from Him. Even among themselves, something happened. Before, they used to walk naked and unashamed in the presence of each other, that was no longer the case. Besides, once they sinned, Adam did not take the responsibility of their sin, pointing at Eve as being the one who led him to sin as if she was an enemy… (Genesis 2 and Genesis 3).
My brother, my sister, sin will put us to shame one day, because God says “For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open” (Luke 8:17). Yes, some of our unrepented sins have still not been confessed, and they are neither forgotten nor forgiven by God, and the Lord will reveal them one day either in this life or in the life after this life.
The fact is that many believers claim to live in the grace that is offered to us and reiterated throughout the New Testament, but they never noticed that the topic of sin is the consistent message of the New Testament. John exposes our tendency to hypocrisy (1 John 4:20). He also highlights our lack of selflessness, which should be an evidence that we have been born again (1 John 3:14). Apostle Paul confronted sin in all the places where God sent him to spread the Good News. Just to say that because sin is in our nature, it leads us to be selfish, not to sacrifice ourselves with love for God and for others. My friend, as a Christian, your greatest battle in life should not be to try to settle your family, financial, housing, clothing problems… these things, God will take care of them when you have first restored a good relationship with Him: “For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well ” (Matthew 6:32-33)… Yes, you should start fighting against your own sin to dethrone self and enthrone Christ in your life … Put things back in order before God in order to have a good relationship with Him and see if He is not going to embrace you and change your whole life. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
