A changed, transformed life speaks loudly and clearly, and it is often the most effective way to influence a family member. My brother, my sister, accepting Christ as your Lord or Saviour does not transform your character overnight… it’s just the first step to your transformation, as you let the Spirit of Christ work in you to destroy your self and let Jesus reign in your heart! In this passage, Peter instructs Christian wives to develop inner beauty rather than being overly concerned about their outward appearance… pointing out that, by their love their husbands will be won over. Of course this does not mean that Christian women should be dowdy and frumpy: it is good to take care of oneself and look at one’s best… But it is far more important to develop an inner spirit of godliness.
Naturally, inner godliness is something every believer should seek, because living a Christian life requires consistency in good character and behaviour from every follower of Christ, as we are ambassadors of Christ and people around us should be able to see Christ in us. Yes, true beauty begins inside (Proverbs 31:30). Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
