TODAY’S MEDITATION – Every blessing that comes from the Lord is worth waiting for (Psalm 37:5-7).

Most of the time, when things delay in our lives, we tend to feel frustrated because we are impatient. My brother, my sister, are you waiting for God to answer your prayers right away? Maybe you are not waiting for God, but still things are not happening the way you hoped or expected them to. Does it seem like your hopes and dreams are never going to be fulfilled? You see, in His Word, the Lord made us many promises and He says “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4). This means that the Lord knows your heart’s desires, so no need to recall them to Him. You know, the Lord is certainly not going to give you things that can end up causing your own (physical or spiritual) death. First… because He is not concerned with earthly things and wants you to look for the things above. Secondly, He wants you to ‘delight’ in Him by seeking Him, loving Him and spending time with Him in prayer and Bible study… And, when you are seeking after the Lord in this way, you will also grow the desires you to serve Him and to “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: he will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes” (Psalm 37:5-7).

Yes, my friend, we need to commit our hopes and dreams to the Lord. He loves us. We are His children and He wants the best for us. He always works things out in our lives when we trust in him. Yes, you may be going through trials and waiting for His answers… but the most important is the end of these trials, not their beginning nor their process. God who created you has a plan for your life (Jeremiah 29:11) and He knows everything about you (Psalm 139:1-24). He also allowed His Son, Jesus, to die so that your sins could be forgiven. As you set your eyes on Jesus, things will seem less difficult to bear because, then, you will realise that Heaven is the greatest hope and promise that God gives you to be able to spend eternity with Him. What an amazing hope this is. This life on earth is temporary, and so are all the troubles you may be going through. That is the reason why, while we live on earth, we need to seek after God and wait for His perfect timing, and His Word says: “But but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31).

My friend, wait on the Lord and trust that His perfect timing is best. God’s word warns us not to try and speed things up and do things in our own strength for “here is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death” (Proverbs 16:25). The same, there is a right time for everything: a right time to get married, a right time to have a baby, a right time to do everything… (Ecclesiastes 3:1) Trust in God’s perfect timing and he will answer you. Then you will hear him directing you: “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it” (Isaiah 30:21). Besides, God’s immediate answer to your prayer maybe to wait: Sarah waited for many years before having Isaac; Hannah wept and prayed out in anguish before the Lord for a child and God answered her prayers; Joseph suffered many years of trials before getting to where God wanted Him to be… Every gift that comes from God is worth waiting for and we know for sure, that His promises to us ” will certainly come and will not delay” (Habakkuk 2:3).

My friend, be encouraged today. Wait patiently on the Lord. Trust in God and He will work things out in your life. God will use you as you are, if you make yourself available to Him. Talk to the Lord today and ask Him to give you the desires of your heart. He is faithful, trust in Him and His perfect timing. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
