In times of gloom and despair, many people (including believers) fear and doubt that their sorrows or troubles will never end. That is why they wander around, looking for answers and solutions to get through their unwanted situations. My brother, my sister, instead of looking for answers and solution, look for the one who IS the solution and the light through darkness. We can understand that an unbeliever may not grasp this truth, but how can a believer continue to resist this call of the Lord? Yet, the sad reality is that many believers want solutions and answers to their daily problems, but they don’t want to know or follow Jesus wholeheartedly.
Nevertheless, the Bible shows us that troubles and sorrows last in our lives most of the time because we have not yet trusted God enough to lead us safely through them… So we disobey Him, but we blame Him for our self-induced problems. My friend, although the Lord may not always spare us from difficult situations, if we follow Him wholeheartedly, we have this assurance: “there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress… The people walking in darkness have seen a great light… they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder. For as in the day of Midian’s defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor.”
My friend, Christ, the promised Messiah has already come as your “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (verse 6). His physical absence does not mean He is not comforting you. In the contrary, it is better for you that He is not here physically today, because then He can live in you spiritually. So look for Him with all your heart, see Him with your heart. Besides, the Bible says, Jesus is the “true light” (John 1:9). In other words, if the light dwells in you, in a time of great darkness, allow that light to shine in order to be delivered from the bondage to sin. Yes, darkness can take control in your life only when you have not given the control of your life to the Spirit of Jesus. The same for your gloomy and desperate situation: hand it over to the Lord, then move ahead, rejoice and see Him leading you through His unfailing victory. If Jesus was able to overcome Satan and death, is it your little problem He cannot handle? Your gloomy and desperate situation comes to an end before your Lord! Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
