Today, let’s go a bit deeper on the parable of the Four Soils that we tackled yesterday, because this should bring us to understand that we are responsible to use well what we have received from the Lord. My brother, my sister, how has God’s Word taken root in your life? It is quite easy for any of us to agree with Jesus with no intention of obeying His commands. It is even more easy to denounce the worries of life and the deceitfulness of wealth and still do nothing to change our ways. Therefore, it is important for us to always check the way we actually respond to the Word. Indeed, people respond differently because they are in different state of readiness once they have accepted Christ. Some are hardened (rocky soil) and no matter what they hear or read in the Word, they keep doing what they thing is right to them! Others are shallow and their roots are not deep enough, and whenever there is wind, they waiver, they run away or they are just taken away by any distracting worries. And of course, some are receptive and ready to do as Jesus commands! My friend, has God’s Word taken root in your life already? What kind of soil are you? You see, when you consider eternal life with the Lord, are your present worries justified? Just imagine one minute; if you had everything you could want in this world but instead you have to forfeit eternal life with Jesus, would those things be so desirable? If you manage to answer “NO”, then, why continue to allow the Good News of the Lord you hear to be “crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth?” (verse 22). The Bible clearly says such attitude will never allow the Word of God, which is alive and powerful, (Hebrews 4:12) to produce fruit in your life. My friend, your spiritual growth starts with your personal quest for the Truth, Jesus, the Living Word to be rooted in your life. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
