This passage of the Bible is always quoted when people want to touch the heart of God with a specific prayer request, or during church gatherings. Indeed, where two or three gather in the name of Jesus, He is among them, and NORMALLY, anything asked during that gathering prayer is heard by the Father in heaven who promised to answer it. Now, my brother, my sister, have you ever wondered why is it that most prayers done between two or three are still not answered by the Lord? It is because we tend to take the Word of God at its face value. Now, let’s understand this. When Jesus said this, He was looking ahead to a new day when He would be present with His followers not in body, but through His Holy Spirit. So He wanted us to know that in the body of believers (the church), the sincere agreement of two people is more powerful than the superficial agreement of thousands, because Christ’s Holy Spirit is among those who follow Him. And that is where the whole mystery of this agreement lies! All those who go to church are not followers of Christ, for many are miracle-runners. What this passage is actually telling us is that where two or three believers, filled with the Holy Spirit, pray according to God’s will, not their own will, then their requests will be granted. My friend, who do you agree with in prayers? Never forget that among those who are within the body of Christ today, some will be rebuked by the Lord Jesus who said: ““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” (Matthew 7:21-23). That is the reason why many of our agreements in prayer are vain… Yes, before you agree with someone or people in prayer, my friend, you need to ensure the person or persons are living a life that is pleasing to God and have abandoned practicing lawlessness… the same as you!!! Then, anything you and that person or persons ask God, He will do it. As you read this and think about this right now, the first thought coming to your mind might be “that’s not easy to find”. It is true, because you yourself know you might not have been very obedient to the Lord, so you can imagine many people could be in the same situation… But the truth has to be told! If we, Christians, want God to fulfill His promises in our lives, we need to walk and live according to His own principles, and all are written in His Word. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
