A great number believers have one thing in coming: they say they follow Christ, but they still don’t fear Him enough to show Him all the reverence He deserves. I remember my mother never missed going to church, even when sick, unless she was bedridden! Why? The fear of the Lord! Yesterday was Sunday: how many “Christians” remained home or chose to do anything else than going to church and will give you many reasons to excuse their absence. My brother, my sister, if that is your case, then today stay home too for the very same reasons (don’t go to work or school, etc.), and taste the difference. Will your boss be lenient? Are you more afraid of what your boss could say rather than what Jesus will say to you? The truth must be told! Many people say they love Christ, while they do not fear Him! When you fear the Lord, you will do what pleases Him first (Psalm 147:11)! Besides, today’s verse tells us this: “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” Yet, fearing the Lord and keeping His commands is YOUR DUTY! Duties come with responsibilities. You expect God to change your life. Yes, you have rights has His child… but are you doing your part? In a day that has 24 hours, how many hours do you consecrate Him? And how many do you consecrate to yourself (your job, your schooling, your leisure…) or the others (your children, your friends, your family, etc.)… Sometimes, you even pray that the Lord should give you wisdom. Is it because you read that Solomon asked Him for wisdom and He blessed Him with riches? Today, learn that “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Psalm 111:10). You want to see your heart’s desires fulfilled, today learn that “He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them” (Psalm 145:19). You want healing or restoration of your health, learn that “The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death” (Proverbs 14:27)… My friend, there are so many promises attached to the fear of the Lord… if only you knew them, you would strive to fear Him ad keep His commands. My people perish for lack of knowledge… Today you have heard His Word, allow the Spirit to teach you His ways by praying this prayer: “Teach me your way, O Lord and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart that I may fear your name” (Psalm 86:11). Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
