The Bible says: “Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.” My brother, my sister, you should should never say I don’t have! Why?Because little is much when God is in it! If we read the story of the widow of Zarephtah (1 Kings 17:7-16) , we realise that while this widow was gathering the stick to go and cook her last meal to eat and die (verse 12), the Lord had already told His prophet, Elijah, to go at once to eat in her house: “Go at once to Zarephath in the region of Sidon and stay there. I have instructed a widow there to supply you with food” (verse 9). My friend, did the omniscient God not know that this lady “had nothing”? Actually, she is the one who thought she had nothing, because God did not see she had nothing! How many of us think they have nothing? My friend, your bank account may be empty today, your fridge may be empty today… it does not mean that you don’t have. Yes, as long as you believe that little is much when God is in it, you will never lack. God does not need you to have to do what He wants you to do so that he might be glorified: read the story of Gideon (Judges 7) to see how the Lord lowered the army from 120 000 people to 300 before giving His people victory! Read 1 Samuel 17 to see how a nobody like David decapitated Goliath with a stone while the army could not. Now turn to John 6:1-13 to see how Jesus fed 5000 thousands with only 5 fish and 2 loaves? The one thing to remember in the story of the widow of Zarepthah is that, to her first reflex and answer “I don’t have”, Elijah answered, “don’t be afraid”. And, to her second reflex and answer to justify why she could not feed him (we all would find excuses when we think we don’t have enough for ourselves!!!), Elijah answered: “Go home and do as you have said”. In other words, Elijah ignored her excuses but told her to take action anyway. That’s the same thing the Lord is asking all of us today: stop finding excuses to do what you need to do today, stand up and go and take action in faith… the rest belongs to Him. Now, look at what happened after she obeyed: “She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family” (verse 16). Yes, the Lord blessed her so much that “the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the LORD spoken by Elijah” (verse 17). Stay blessed in Jesus’ name. [facebook] [retweet]
