You will know you have faith when you believe in things when common sense tells you not to. This is what the story of Gideon teaches us. My brother, my sister, the Lord called Gideon and gave him a mission that seemed crazy. But, what is wonderful is that, Gideon doubted, was afraid, but he acted, obeyed, and was victorious, because he trusted God. Mu friends, the Lord does not want anyone to take credit of what He is doing in your life, just like he reduced Gideon’s army from 32000 men to 300 men who were going to fight 15000 adversaries! Yes, when we trust the Lord, He will guide us step by step, taking us to the destination He Himself has set for us. Like Gideon, we, Christians, should learn not to obey our fears or doubts, but to keep our eyes set on Jesus, who is helping our faith to growth as we obey Him. You see, The Lord had promised Gideon victory. Gideon walked by faith and went to battle. The Lord gave Gideon the victory. You know why? Because, not only did Gideon obey the Lord by doing what He was asked to do, but also because his 300 men did what he asked them to do, for they recognized the authority the Lord has empowered him with. Didn’t they know it was crazy to try and fight 15000 men without swords? Yet, no one complained, no one questioned Gideon, even when he said : “Watch me,” he told them. “Follow my lead. When I get to the edge of the camp, do exactly as I do. When I and all who are with me blow our trumpets, then from all around the camp blow yours and shout, ‘For the LORD and for Gideon’” (Judges 7:17-18). This, my friend is a demonstration of faithfulness and obedience. Today I want to finish with the word of an American preacher, Aiden Wilson Tozer, who said: “The Bible recognizes no faith that does not lead to obedience, nor does it recognize any obedience that does not spring from faith. The two are opposite sides of the same coin.” The story of Gideon reflects what we Christians should do as we are following Christ. Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
