TODAY’S MEDITATION – “For you died to this life” (Colossians 3:2-3)

Being a Christian is a constant, daily battle since we have to set our sights on the realities of heaven, which means that we always have to strive to put heaven’s priorities into our daily practices. It also means letting heaven fill our thoughts as we focus on eternal things rather than the temporal things offered by this world. My brother, my sister, on these verses, today you are reminded to “set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” Many people, above all Christians, live daily as if they are not part of the body of Christ while they should have as little desire for improper worldly things and pleasures as a dead person would have. This truth should provide us with a different perspective on our lives on earth, above all as we begin to “think about the things of heaven”, which means to look at life from God’s perspective and to seek what He desires. Today’s world is teaching us great values of selfishness and materialism, so much that even our houses are made to become self-serving homes for ourselves and our families (recently on the news I heard about an old person who died in a flat – among other living people – for many weeks without anyone noticing their absence!) But we Christians should seek what Christ desires, we have to empty ourselves with any religiosity because following Christ means carrying the cross daily to demonstrate love and serve the others in this world. And we should do that knowing that our service and conduct do not earn us salvation, but they are the results of it… because when you are truly saved, you will start considering the world around you as Christ did when He died on the Cross for you, and each day, you will strive to live in harmony with Him, live for Him! Stay blessed in Jesus’ name.
